Estimating bulk carriers’ main engine power and emissions

Great importance is had in understanding the current situation of maritime transport and making predictions about its future. Maritime an essential part transportation, correctly predicting installed main engine power has great significance with regard to fuel consumption generation emissions. Nonlinear regression a method potential predictions, as it allows for more realistic models be developed using multiple variables. Vessels' dimensions carrying capacity, gross tonnage, length, breadth significantly impact required power. This article will calculate estimate bulk carriers through nonlinear data yet highest number (n = 9,174 ships) compare results studies literature. The model accuracy 93.2% six different carrier types (Small, Handysize, Handymax, Panamax, Capesize, Large Capesize). In addition, study calculates emissions these ships produce (NOx, SO2, CO2, HC, PM), estimating demonstrating linear ships' emission amounts. performed analyses have found per unit load decrease ship size increases. However, also show generated increases, Capesize vessels being lowest load.
